Everytime
Without any sound. Step after step. Kratos really knows this forest. Without any doubt he went to a little clearance. A ray of light shimmers trough the leafs of the big trees this time.
This place was full of memories. Memories of the time he had with a girl at this place.
But this time he won’t just sit here and think about the good old times. He was searching for one person.
Her long green hair reflected every little light. She really was a beauty. Just standing here and watching the butterflies makes her forget a little of her pain. But there were some things she could never stop to worry about, even if she wanted to.
Mithos.
“Hey, why standing here all alone Martel?”
When Kratos called out her name, she crinked a little bit. Did he come to find her? She looked at his face and blushed a little.
“Well, I was just thinking about one or two things, you know.” She gave him a little smile. But her eyes looked as sad as they did the last days all the time. She realised something. Well, more than just one thing to be honest.
“Kratos? I think...”
She lowered her head. A little sigh came out of her red lips. She considered for a moment.
“What is it?”
Kratos was never a man of many words, but if he said something, it was worth. Even if his heart was beating like a drum. Yeah. He realised a long time ago...
“I... I think I will die soon.”
She smiled again. Her outside was as strong as she was beautiful. But her inside was full of fears. Fears about what the future holds. Fears about what her lie to Kratos would bring. She really don’t wanted to lie. But it was her only chance. The one and only. So she talked to him in her toughts: //I’m so sorry Kratos. Please... forgive me. Please.//
“And so I wanted to tell you something last....”
//I don’t want to lie to you.... forgive me, my dear friend//
“... I love you.”
Kratos looked impassively at her face. This was something that he wanted to hear. Everytime. Anytime. His love to this woman was strong. It was as strong as.... the pain that he felt by her words....
He wanted to say something, but the words were lost in this moment.
“Please, even if I know that you didn’t feel the same. I have to ask you something...”
She doesn’t know anything at this moment. His love for her...
“When I’m gone... please take care of Mithos..... and Yuan...”
He was a gentle man for sure. He surely had a bad conscience that he didn’t feel the same thing for her. And it would never hurt Yuan like this, when she never tell him about her feelings...
“Please.... please be kind to my beloved little brother. Be the father he never had. Even if I can’t get your love... I want you to love him like your son when I’m gone.”
It was definite not her kind to speak like this. But she had no other choice.
It would be the best thing to do. Even if she lied to her friend and hurt her true love.
Kratos looked up to the sky behind the leafs. He know what she was thinking. It’s just like her to do everything not to hurt others. Even if she hurts herself.
He decided for himself to do things like she does.
“Martel, you know too well that this is a lie. Don’t you think this way is the wrong way? To hurt other people just by thinking you will help them? That’s wrong.”
He turned his back on her. It hurts him deep inside. But he won’t be weak.
“You don’t have to lie. We will protect you. So you can take care of Mithos.... and can still marry Yuan.” His heart was as hurt as she was shocked by his words. But both of them know the truth.
“I will heal your affliction. No matter what will happen.”
She had never realised that he noticed it.
“You will keep on living for many years. Many more than I will. And when you will die someday far far away you will be there for Mithos anytime. Maybe you will be an angel, a goddess, who knows? And you will be Yuans wife. So keep on smiling.”
Tears of joy ran over her face. This was hope for her. That was grief for him. But he wanted her to be happy. To the very end.
“But, if anything will happen to you out of the sudden, I will come after your wish. I promise. But the one he needs is you, so take care.”
Kratos just wanted to go. He couldn’t stand it anymore. Each time he looked at her friendly face he wanted to hear these word from her. And now that she told him these words, she suffers. That was way to much...
His steps were soundless as they were before. Just one thing accompanied him. A song of a wonderfull, lovely goddess. He smiled... and cried.
He will be at her side.
